My Story

Mantelpiece flower arrangement at Newnham College

The view from my garden studio

I studied art and photography at college and then went on to gain horticultural qualifications with the RHS, working as a gardener for many years. Then seven years ago I found floristry and fell in love with the idea of growing and designing with flowers.

This concept of sowing seed, nurturing the seedlings, tending the garden and then cutting the flowers to arrange for my work is so important to me. Seeing the flowers through from tiny seed to cut bloom, gives me a special relationship with my designs and an appreciation of nature.

In 2020 my husband and I, along with our cat Amelie, moved to a little house in Westwick, Cambridgeshire. It is down a gravel track where fields lay beyond, cow parsley lines the track in Spring and the neighbouring orchard puts on a beautiful display of blossom that I enjoy whilst standing by my compost heap.

We renovated the building and called in Honeysuckle House. My husband and I created my first cutting garden here and I grow mainly in raised beds at the front and rear of our property. I love working in my greenhouse or arranging the flowers in my garden studio. My space isn't big enough to supply all the flowers for my larger events, but I grow the more unusual varieties that are hard to find, to supplement my work.

I have a soft spot for David Austin roses with their beautiful fragrance and grow lots of cultivars to nestle into bridal bouquets and vase designs, along with many other varieties of flowers and foliage.

I try to use my own flowers, or British grown where possible and supplement this with Dutch flowers. I hope one day I can buy a bigger plot of land that will supply flowers for all my events and deliveries..

I enjoy embracing a wide range of botanicals in my work, from flowers, grasses, berries and branches to living plants. My designs have a naturalistic, garden style, with a painterly approach.

I grow using peat free compost, without the use of chemicals. I avoid the use of plastic or foam in my work and strive for my business to be as sustainable as possible. I want to tread as lightly as possible on the earth I work with.

I welcome interesting commissions, large or small. Please do get in touch if you’d like to talk about an event or project.

I also offer consultation, design and planting for small gardens or borders. I have helped design The Punter pub courtyard which I continue to maintain, planting display at The Free Press and many other private gardens. I have a good knowledge of plants, with RHS qualifications and love to play with colour, texture and form. So if you’re looking for help with soft landscaping design I’d love to hear from you.
